Thappad

A married couple faces a major setback in their relationship when the husbands promotion is unfairly given to someone else, leading to a heated argument resulting in the wife leaving, filing for divorce, and threatening to reveal domestic violence unless they agree on a mutual consent divorce and joint custody, ultimately leading to their separation but with a sense of redemption and personal growth for both parties involved. Thappad is a 2020 Indian Hindi-language Drama film starring Taapsee Pannu, Tanvi Azmi, Sushil Dahiya, Naila Grewal, Pavail Gulati, Ram Kapoor and Saidujjaman Durjoy. Benaras Media Works in association with T-Series. were the production houses involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Anubhav Sinha, Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar and Vinod Bhanushali. Thappad is written by Anubhav Sinha and Mrunmayee Lagoo and it is directed by Anubhav Sinha. AA Films acquired the distribution rights for the movie. Thappad was released on 27th February 2020 and takes a screen time of 142 minutes. and it received positive reviews from critics when it was released. Thappad was made on a budget of ₹24 crore and it was a hit at box office gross of ₹29 crore. Cinematography was done by Soumik Mukherjee and editing by Yasha Ramchandani. The music was composed by Anurag Saikia along with Mangesh Dhakde. At the 2021 Filmfare Awards It won 4 awards including: Best Dialogue, Best Background Score, Best Editing and Best Sound Design.
