A major US energy company loses control of important oil fields to a Chinese company, and to compensate for the loss, merges with a smaller oil company, sparking concerns among regulators, while various individuals, including an energy analyst, a CIA officer, a migrant worker, and a lawyer, navigate their own storylines within this backdrop of corruption and power struggles.
