Retired Starfleet officers Kirk, Scott, and Chekov embark on a rescue mission in the USS Enterprise-B and Kirk sacrifices himself to save the ship, while in 2371, the crew of the USS Enterprise-D grapples with personal tragedies and must stop Soran from destroying a star and killing millions, with Picard ultimately sacrificing himself to stop Soran and save his crew.
