In the year 2233, the USS Kelvin is attacked by a Romulan ship, leading to the sacrifice of Captain Robau and the first officer George Kirk, but years later, a young Spock and Kirk join Starfleet and work together to stop the Romulan ship Narada from destroying Earth, with the help of an older Spock from an alternate timeline. The movie is inspired from Star Trek by Gene Roddenberry. Star Trek was Produced by Alex Kurtzman, Damon Lindelof, Roberto Orci and J. J. Abrams. Star Trek is written by Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Gene Roddenberry and it is directed by J.j. Abrams and J. J. Abrams. Paramount Pictures acquired the distribution rights for the film. Star Trek was released on 7th May 2009 and takes a screen time of 127 minutes. and it received positive reviews from critics when it was released and became successful at box office. Star Trek was made on a budget of $150 million and it was a super hit at box office gross of $385 million. Cinematography was done by Dan Mindel and editing by Mary Jo Markey and Maryann Brandon. The music was composed by Academy Award Oscar winner Michael Giacchino. At the 2010 Oscar Awards It won an award for Best Achievement in Makeup.
