Sandeep Singh, a former hockey player who quit the sport, overcomes several obstacles including paralysis to make a successful comeback and ultimately receives the Arjuna Award. Soorma is a 2018 Indian Hindi-language Biography Sport film featuring Diljit Dosanjh, Taapsee Pannu, Angad Bedi, Danish Husain, Pitobash, Herry Tangiri and Kurt Ward. Sony Pictures Networks India in association with C.S. Films. were the production houses involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Chitrangda Singh, Sony Pictures Networks Productions and Deepak Singh. The movie is written and directed by Shaad Ali. Sony Pictures Releasing acquired the distribution rights for the movie. Soorma was released on 13th July 2018 and takes a screen time of 131 minutes. Soorma was made on a budget of ₹31 crore and it was a hit at box office gross of ₹32 crore. The screenplay for the movie was written by Suyash Trivedi, Shaad Ali and Siva Ananth. Cinematography was done by Jitan Harmeet Singh and editing by Manish More. The music was composed by IIFA Award winner Ehsaan Noorani along with Loy Mendonsa, Shankar Mahadevan and Shankar Ehsaan Loy.
