Smokey and the Bandit

Bandit and Cledus are two truck-driving southerners who accept a dare from big-shots Big and Little Enos to pick up a truckload of beer from Texas and return it to them within a specified amount of time. Picking it up is simple enough, but as they are leaving Texas, Bandit unwittingly picks up Carrie, a hitchhiking bride-to-be who just left her groom, Junior, at the altar. Junior, however, is the son of Sheriff Buford T. Justice. And when Buford and Junior discover what has happened, they go on a high-speed pursuit across the Southeast to catch the bandit. Written by Smokey and the Bandit is a 1977 American English-language Action Comedy movie starring Burt Reynolds, Sally Field, Jerry Reed, Jackie Gleason, Mike Henry, Paul Williams and Susan Sindelar. Rastar was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Mort Engelberg and Robert L. Levy. The movie is directed by Hal Needham. Universal Pictures acquired the distribution rights for the motion picture. Smokey and the Bandit was released on 27th May 1977 and takes a screen time of 96 minutes. The Film was successful at box office. Smokey and the Bandit was made on a budget of $4 million and it was a super hit at box office gross of $126 million. The screenplay for the movie was written by James Lee Barrett, Charles Shyer and Alan Mandel. Cinematography was done by Bobby Byrne and editing by Walter Hannemann and Angelo Ross. The music was composed by Bill Justis along with Jerry Reed.
