Sierra, an intelligent and unpopluar high school student aspiring to attend Stanford, cleverly handles insults and criticism from her classmate Veronica, who mistakenly gives Sierras number to football player Jamey instead of her own, leading to a texting and flirting relationship between Sierra and Jamey, causing Sierra to develop feelings for Jamey, and eventually leading Sierra to offer tutoring to Veronica in exchange for help with Jamey, resulting in a fake video call and a kiss between Sierra and Jamey, causing Jamey to kiss Veronica at a football game, leading to anger between the two girls until Sierra sends Veronica a song as an apology, causing Veronica to confront her controlling mother, leading Veronica to convince Jamey to forgive Sierra, resulting in them going to homecoming together, and ultimately leading to a reconciliation between Sierra and Veronica at the dance.
