After one of their shoplifting sessions, Osamu and his son come across a little girl in the freezing cold. At first reluctant to shelter the girl, Osamu’s wife agrees to take care of her after learning of the hardships she faces. Although the family is poor, barely making enough money to survive through petty crime, they seem to live happily together until an unforeseen incident reveals hidden secrets, testing the bonds that unite them. Shoplifters is a 2018 Japanese Japanese-language Crime Drama film starring Lily Franky, Sakura Ando, Mayu Matsuoka, Kairi J, Miyu Sasaki and Kirin Kiki. Aoi Pro in association with Inc. were the production houses involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Matsuzaki Kaoru, Yose Akihiko and Taguchi Hijiri. The film is written and directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda. GAGA Pictures acquired the distribution rights for the motion picture. Shoplifters was released on 12th July 2018 and takes a screen time of 121 minutes. The motion picture made a box office gross of $76 million. Cinematography was done by Kondo Ryuto and editing by Hirokazu Kore-eda. The music was composed by Haruomi Hosono.
