Dhanush, a mute man with dreams of being an actor, teams up with Akshara to overcome his muteness and achieve success in Bollywood, but their friendship faces challenges as ego clashes and a tragic accident occur along the way. Shamitabh is a 2015 Indian Hindi-language Comedy Drama film starring Amitabh Bachchan, Dhanush, Akshara Haasan, Abhinaya, Pete Meads, Rukmini Vijayakumar and Jitendra Pathak. Hope Productions in association with , Eros International and Saraswati Creations. were the production houses involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Abhishek Bachchan, Amitabh Bachchan, Dhanush, Ekta Kapoor, R. Damani, Sunil Manchanda, Sunil Lulla, Gauri Shinde, Rakesh Jhunjhunwala and R. K. Damani. The motion picture is written and directed by R. Balki. Eros International acquired the distribution rights for the motion picture. Shamitabh was released on 5th February 2015 and takes a screen time of 135 minutes. Shamitabh was made on a budget of ₹49 crore and at the box office it grossed only ₹21 crore. Cinematography was done by P. C. Sreeram and editing by Hemanti Sarkar. The music was composed by National Award winner Ilaiyaraaja.
