Following an attempt on his life, Detective John Shafts son joins him in investigating a drug dealer, leading them to uncover a drug rehab clinic, a suspicious mosque, and a drug smuggling ring, ultimately teaming up with Shafts grandson to continue their private investigation business after Shaft sacrifices himself to save his son. Shaft is a 2019 American English-language Action Comedy movie featuring Samuel L. Jackson, Jessie T. Usher, Regina Hall, Alexandra Shipp, Richard Roundtree, Matt Lauria and Andzelika Bobrova. The movie is based on John Shaft by Ernest Tidyman. New Line Cinema in association with Davis Entertainment and Netflix Original Films. were the production houses involved in the project along with executive producer(s) John Davis. Shaft is written by Ernest Tidyman, Kenya Barris and Alex Barnow and it is directed by Tim Story. Warner Bros. Pictures acquired the distribution rights for the movie. Shaft was released on 29th June 2019 and takes a screen time of 112 minutes. Shaft was made on a budget of $35 million and at the box office it grossed only $21 million. Cinematography was done by Larry Blanford and editing by Peter S. Elliot. The music was composed by Christopher Lennertz.
