In Depression-era North Carolina, timber baron George Pemberton marries Serena Shaw, but tension arises when Serena asserts control over Georges land and suspicions about his illegitimate son and workers testament against him eventually lead to a series of tragedies and deaths. Serena is written by Christopher Kyle and Ron Rash and it is directed by Susanne Bier. Magnolia Pictures acquired the distribution rights for the movie. Serena was released on 1st January 2015 and takes a screen time of 110 minutes. Serena was made on a budget of $25 million and at the box office it grossed only $5 million.
