The film tells the story of Selena Quintanilla Pérez, a beloved Tejano superstar, from her rise to fame to her tragic death at the hands of her fan club president. Selena is a 1997 American English-language Biography Drama film featuring Jennifer Lopez, Edward James Olmos, Jon Seda, Constance Marie, Jacob Vargas, Lupe Ontiveros and Robert A. Diaz. Q-Productions was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Abraham Quintanilla Jr., Moctesuma Esparza and Robert Katz. The film is written and directed by Gregory Nava. Warner Bros. acquired the distribution rights for the motion picture. Selena was released on 21st March 1997 and takes a screen time of 127 minutes. Selena was made on a budget of $20 million and at the box office it grossed only $2 million. Cinematography was done by Edward Lachman and editing by Nancy Richardson.
