Sairat is a tragic love story of two college students from different castes who face opposition from society and family, and ultimately meet a brutal end. Sairat is a 2016 Indian Marathi-language Drama Romance motion picture starring Akash Thosar, Rinku Rajguru, Arbaz Shaikh, Tanaji Galgunde, Suresh Vishwakarma, Suraj Pawar and Rakesh Bhavsar. Zee Studios in association with Aatpat Production and Essel Vision Productions. were the production houses involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Nittin Keni, Nikhil Sane and Nagraj Manjule. Sairat is written by Nagraj Popatrao Manjule, Bharat Manjule and Nagraj Manjule and it is directed by Nagraj Popatrao Manjule and Nagraj Manjule. Zee Studios acquired the distribution rights for the movie. Sairat was released on 29th April 2016 and takes a screen time of 174 minutes. The Film was successful at box office. Sairat was made on a budget of ₹4 crore and it was a super hit at box office gross of ₹110 crore. Cinematography was done by Sudhakar Reddy Yakkanti and editing by Kutub Inamdar. The music was composed by Ajay Gogavale along with Atul Gogavale and Ajay Atul. At the 2016 National Film Awards It won an award for Special Mention.
