Two young men commit a murder in their apartment, hold a dinner party with the victims loved ones, drop subtle hints about the crime, and eventually get caught when a guest discovers the body in a chest, leading to the arrival of the police. Rope is a 1948 American English-language Crime Drama motion picture starring James Stewart, John Dall, Farley Granger, Joan Chandler, Sir Cedric Hardwicke, Constance Collier and Alfred Hitchcock. The movie is based on the play Rope by Patrick Hamilton. Transatlantic Pictures was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Alfred Hitchcock and Sidney Bernstein. Rope is written by Hume Cronyn, Patrick Hamilton, Arthur Laurents and Ben Hecht and it is directed by Alfred Hitchcock. Warner Bros. Pictures acquired the distribution rights for the motion picture. Rope was released on 23rd August 1948 and takes a screen time of 80 minutes. and it received positive reviews from critics when it was released. Rope was made on a budget of $1510 billion and at the box office it grossed only $0 million. The screenplay for the movie was written by Arthur Laurents. Cinematography was done by Joseph A.
