After the American Civil War, the Texas Rangers are replaced by the US Army Cavalry, who blame the Texans for inciting the Comanche, and Gene Autry and Lieutenant Bob Cameron compete for the love of Dixie Summerall, daughter of the post commander at Fort Adobe, while Autry attempts to prevent an Indian attack and clear his name of murder charges.
