Return to Oz

After being admitted to a sanitarium for her obsession with Oz, Dorothy receives help from a mysterious girl to escape and travels to a ruined Emerald City where she rescues her captive friend and ultimately defeats the Nome King, but chooses to return home. Return to Oz is a 1985 English-language Adventure Family motion picture featuring Nicol Williamson, Jean Marsh, Piper Laurie, Fairuza Balk, Matt Clark, Michael Sundin and Jon Jacobs. The movie is based on The Marvelous Land of Oz and Ozma of Oz by L. Frank Baum. Walt Disney Pictures in association with Silver Screen Partners II. were the production houses involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Paul Maslansky. The movie is directed by Walter Murch. Buena Vista Distribution acquired the distribution rights for the motion picture. Return to Oz was released on 21st June 1985 and takes a screen time of 113 minutes. The Film was successful at box office. Return to Oz was made on a budget of $24 million and it was a hit at box office gross of $36 million. The screenplay for the movie was written by Walter Murch and Gill Dennis. Cinematography was done by David Watkin and Freddie Francis and editing by Leslie Hodgson. The music was composed by David Shire.
