Reaching for the Moon is a 1930 English-language Comedy Romance film directed by Edmund Goulding and produced by Joseph M. Schenck and Douglas Fairbanks under the banner of Joseph M. Schenck Productions. Wall Street wizard, Larry Day, new to the ways of love, is coached by his valet. He follows Vivian Benton on an ocean liner, where cocktails, laced with a love potion, work their magic. He then loses his fortune in the market crash and feels he has also lost his girl.. Written by Herman Seifer. Reaching for the moon stars Douglas Fairbanks in the title role along with an ensemble cast including Bebe Daniels, Edward Everett Horton, Claud Allister, Jack Mulhall, Walter Walker and June Maccloy. The screenplay is written by Edmund Goulding. The music was composed by Alfred Newman. Cinematography was done by Ray June and Robert H. Planck and editing by Hal C. Kern and Lloyd Nosler. The motion picture has a running time of 91 minutes. It was released on 21st February 1931. The movie made a box office gross of $1 million. Distribution rights for the movie were acquired by United Artists.
