Raised in poverty in Florida, Ray Charles loses his vision at a young age, becomes a successful musician, battles with addiction, and fights for civil rights before achieving success until his death in 2004. Ray is a 2004 American English-language Biography Drama motion picture starring Jamie Foxx, Kerry Washington, Clifton Powell, Harry Lennix, Terrence Howard, Larenz Tate and Shaun Grant. Bristol Bay Productions in association with Anvil Films and Baldwin Entertainment Group. were the production houses involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Taylor Hackford, Stuart Benjamin, Howard Baldwin and Karen Baldwin. Ray is written by Taylor Hackford, James L. White, J.r.r. Tolkien, Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens and Peter Jackson and it is directed by Taylor Hackford and Peter Jackson. Universal Pictures acquired the distribution rights for the movie. Ray was released on 18th February 2005 and takes a screen time of 152 minutes. The Film was successful at box office. Ray was made on a budget of $40 million and it was a super hit at box office gross of $123 million. The screenplay for the movie was written by James L. White. Cinematography was done by Pawe Edelman and editing by Paul Hirsch. The music was composed by Craig Armstrong. At the 2005 Oscar Awards It won 2 awards including: Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role (Jamie Foxx) and Best Achievement in Sound Mixing.
