Ranganayaki

A talented actress sacrifices her career to marry a wealthy man, but later disguises herself to save her struggling drama company, leading to the collapse of her marriage, loss of her son, and eventual closure of the theater, until she reemerges as a successful movie actress, only for her devoted fan, who is her long-lost son, to tragically lose the chance to meet her before she takes her own life. Ranganayaki is a 1981 Indian Kannada-language Drama film starring Ambareesh, Ramakrishna, Rajanand, Aarathi Chandrashekar, Ashok Narasimhaiah, Ambarish and Lalithamma. The movie is inspired from Ranganayaki by Ashwattha. Ranganayaki was Produced by B. Thimmanna. Ranganayaki is written by Ashwattha and directed by S.r. Puttana Kanagal and Puttanna Kanagal. Sri Ashok Arts acquired the distribution rights for the film. Ranganayaki was released on 1st January 1981. The screenplay for the movie was written by Puttanna Kanagal and Yoganarasimhamurthy. Cinematography was done by S. Maruthi Rao and editing by V. P. Krishna. The music was composed by M. Ranga Rao. At the 1982 South Filmfare Awards It won 3 awards including: Best Actress (Aarathi Chandrashekar), Best Director and Best Film.
