Raincoat

A poor man goes to Kolkata to get money for his sisters wedding and is helped by a wealthy producer and a woman, and later helps his lost love pay rent by giving her the money he collected. Raincoat is a 2004 Indian Hindi-language Drama Romance motion picture starring Ajay Devgn, Aishwarya Rai, Annu Kapoor, Mouli Ganguly, Surekha Sikri, Ajay Devgan and Gulzar Kalra. The movie is based on The Gift of the Magi by O Henry. Raincoat was Produced by Shree Venkatesh Films. Raincoat is written by Rituparno Ghosh, O. Henry and Usha Ganguly and it is directed by Rituparno Ghosh. Shree Venkatesh Films acquired the distribution rights for the film. Raincoat was released on 24th December 2004 and takes a screen time of 120 minutes. Raincoat was made on a budget of ₹5 crore and at the box office it grossed only ₹2 crore. Cinematography was done by Avik Mukhopadhyay and editing by Arghakamal Mitra. The music was composed by Debajyoti Mishra. At the 2005 National Film Awards It won an award for Best Feature Film in Hindi.
