A young black pianist becomes embroiled in the lives of an upper-class white family set among the racial tensions, infidelity, violence, and other nostalgic events in early 1900s New York City. Ragtime is a 1981 American English-language Drama motion picture featuring James Cagney, Brad Dourif, Moses Gunn, Elizabeth Mcgovern, Kenneth Mcmillan, Pat O'brien and Nancy Cohen. The movie is inspired from Ragtime by E. L. Doctorow. Ragtime was Produced by Dino De Laurentiis. Ragtime is written by E.l. Doctorow, Michael Weller and Heinrich Von Kleist and it is directed by Milos Forman and Milo Forman. Paramount Pictures acquired the distribution rights for the motion picture. Ragtime was released on 25th December 1981 and takes a screen time of 155 minutes. and it received positive reviews from critics when it was released. Ragtime was made on a budget of $28 million and at the box office it grossed only $14 million. The screenplay for the movie was written by Michael Weller and Bo Goldman. Cinematography was done by Miroslav Ond ek and editing by Anne V. Coates, Antony Gibbs and Stanley Warnow. The music was composed by Randy Newman.
