An interesting crime action film Raees features Shah Rukh Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and Mahira Khan. The film faced criticism since they had cast a Pakistani actress at the time of Border tension. This 2017 Hindi film was written by Rahul Dholakia, Harit Mehta, Ashish Vashi, and Niraj Shukla and directed by Rahul Dholakia. When a bootlegger tries to prove himself as a promising leader of his community and improve it he is entangled in a political trap that forms the crux of the story. The film is rumored to be inspired by the life of Abdul Latif, a Gujarat based gangster. It was produced by Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar and Gauri Khan. It was tastefully captured by K.U. Mohanan and edited by Deepa Bhatia. Ram Sampath, JAM8 and Kalyanji- Anandji composed the music. It was released on 25 January 2017 and has a running time of 143 minutes. The movie was made on a budget of ₹127 crores and it grossed ₹132 crores at the box office. In 2017 this was the most pirated Hindi film. The distribution rights were acquired by AA Films and Zee Studios. A UA certificate for the movie was provided by the Censor Board.
