A national hero falls in love with Miss India, but his childhood friend seeks revenge by falsely accusing him of treason until they unite and prove his innocence. Pukar is a 2000 Indian Hindi-language Action Drama movie featuring Anil Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit, Namrata Shirodkar, Danny Denzongpa, Om Puri, Rohini Hattangadi and Suhas Bhalekar. S K Film Enterprises was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Bharat S Shah, Surinder Kapoor, Boney Kapoor and Bharat Shah. Pukar is written by Vijay Deveshwar, K.k. Raina, Anjum Rajabali and Rajkumar Santoshi and it is directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. Eros International acquired the distribution rights for the movie. Pukar was released on 4th February 2000 and takes a screen time of 165 minutes. Pukar was made on a budget of ₹17 crore and at the box office it grossed only ₹13 crore. The screenplay for the movie was written by Rajkumar Santoshi and Anjum Rajabali. Cinematography was done by Ashok Mehta, Santosh Sivan, Baba Azmi and Chota K. Naidu and editing by Rajkumar Santoshi. The music was composed by Ar Rahman along with A. R. Rahman. At the 2001 National Film Awards It won an award for Best Actor (Anil Kapoor).
