The story follows Deepa and Rupa, twin sisters who unknowingly get involved with twin brothers, leading to misunderstandings, confusion and accusations of deceit as they navigate their relationships while trying to uncover the truth and protect their friendships and love lives. Proxy is a 1977 Indian Bengali-language Drama motion picture featuring Ganesh, Amulya, Aparna Sen, Ranjit Mallick, Anup Kumar, Chhaya Devi and Gita Pradhan. Suresh Arts was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) K. A. Suresh. Proxy is written by Dinen Gupta, Gauri Prasanna Mazumder and Manju Swaraj and it is directed by Dinen Gupta and Manju Swaraj. Proxy was released on 16th December 1977. Cinematography was done by B. Suresh Babu. The music was composed by National Award winner Hemanta Mukherjee along with V. Harikrishna.
