A wizards daughter named Brunhilde becomes trapped in a glass jar and is rescued by a boy named Sōsuke, who she turns into a human and renames herself Ponyo, causing a tsunami when she accidentally releases a lot of magic into the ocean, and together they go on a journey to find Sōsukes mother, passing a test that allows Ponyo to become human and share a kiss with Sōsuke. Ponyo is a 2008 Japanese Japanese-language Animation Adventure film featuring Tomoko Yamaguchi, Kazushige Nagashima, Y Ki Amami, George Tokoro, Yuria Nara, Hiroki Doi and Katelin C. Holloway. The movie is inspired from The Little Mermaid by Hans Christian Andersen. Studio Ghibli was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Toshio Suzuki. The motion picture is written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki. Toho acquired the distribution rights for the movie. Ponyo was released on 17th August 2009 and takes a screen time of 101 minutes. Ponyo was made on a budget of ¥3 billion and at the box office it grossed only $204 million. Cinematography was done by Atsushi Okui and editing by Takeshi Seyama. The music was composed by Joe Hisaishi.
