Ponthan Mada

Set in 1940s, the film is about the irrational bonding of the low-caste Ponthan Mada with his colonial landlord Sheema Thampuran, who was expelled to British India from England during his youth for supporting the Irish Republican Army. Crossing the class boundaries, the two communicate through Thampuran s window, with Mada hanging from a palm tree. Ponthan Mada is a 1994 Indian Malayalam-language Drama movie starring Mammootty, Naseeruddin Shah, Sreejaya, Laboni Sarkar, Janardhanan and Maniyanpilla Raju. Ponthan Mada was Produced by Ravindranath. Ponthan Mada is written by T.v. Chandran and C.v. Sriraman and it is directed by T.v. Chandran and T. V. Chandran. Mac Release acquired the distribution rights for the film. Ponthan Mada was released on 10th March 1994. The screenplay for the movie was written by T. V. Chandran. Cinematography was done by Venu and editing by Venugopal. The music was composed by Johnson. At the 1994 National Film Awards It won an award for Best Direction. At the 1994 National Film Awards It also won 3 awards including: Best Actor (Mammootty), Best Cinematography and Best Music.
