Pinjar

During the 1947 partition, Pinjar follows the story of Puro, a Hindu woman kidnapped by Rashid for revenge, who later returns to him, marries him, helps rescue his sister during riots, and ultimately chooses to stay with him but is selflessly let go by Rashid when she seeks him out later. Pinjar is a 2003 Indian Hindi-language Drama motion picture starring Urmila Matondkar, Manoj Bajpayee, Sanjay Suri, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Isha Koppikar, Farida Jalal and Kirron Arya. The movie is based on Pinjar by Amrita Pritam. Lucky Star Entertainment was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Lucky Star Entertainment. Pinjar is written by Chandra Prakash Dwivedi and Amrita Pritam and it is directed by Chandra Prakash Dwivedi and Chandraprakash Dwivedi. 20th Century Fox acquired the distribution rights for the motion picture. Pinjar was released on 24th October 2003 and takes a screen time of 188 minutes. Pinjar was made on a budget of ₹12 crore and at the box office it grossed only ₹3 crore. The screenplay for the movie was written by Chandraprakash Dwivedi. Cinematography was done by Santosh Thundiyil and editing by Ballu Saluja. The music was composed by Uttam Singh along with Gulzar.
