A criminal named Bhairavan adopts a new identity as Karnan to pursue his romantic interest while being pursued by a police officer who is also in love with his sister. Jagapathi Art Pictures was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) V. B. Rajendra Prasad. Pattakkathi Bhairavan is written by Balasubramaniam S.p. and Aaroor Dass and it is directed by Rajendra Prasad V.b. and V. B. Rajendra Prasad. Jagapathi Art Pictures acquired the distribution rights for the film. Pattakkathi Bhairavan was released on 19th October 1979. Cinematography was done by V. S. R. Swamy and editing by K. R. Sanjeevi.
