A group of hunters illegally hunt game in the woods, while orphaned siblings Kerra and Brock escape state care and seek refuge with their aunt and uncle in Leeds, Utah, where Kerra reconnects with her childhood friend Kiddoni, a being from the Book of Mormon, just as an earthquake creates a time rift allowing communication with ancient Nephite people and bringing Kiddoni into the modern world, leading to a clash between the past and present as Brock is captured by the Gadianton armies, and eventually, a Nephite-Gadianton battle reveals that Chris is the siblings father, before the time rift is restored and the families are reunited.
