Padayottam

The Kolathiri Raja chooses his nephew Udayan as his successor and plans for him to marry his daughter, which angers another nephew, Devan, leading to a series of betrayals, revenge plots, and ultimately redemption for Devan and the salvation of the kingdom. Padayottam is a 1982 Indian Malayalam-language Action Drama film featuring Prem Nazir, Madhu, Lakshmi, Poornima Bhagyaraj, Mammootty, Mohanlal Viswanathan and Meena. The movie is inspired from The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas. Navodaya Studio was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Navodaya Appachan. The movie is directed by Jijo Punnoose. Navodaya Release acquired the distribution rights for the movie. Padayottam was released on 16th September 1982. Padayottam was made on a budget of ₹50 lakh. The screenplay for the movie was written by N. Govindan Kutty. Cinematography was done by Ramachandra Babu and J. Williams and editing by T. R. Shekhar. The music was composed by Guna Singh.
