A woman named Josey Aimes escapes an abusive husband and returns to her hometown, where she uncovers widespread sexual harassment and abuse of female workers at a local iron mine; she files a lawsuit against the mining company with the help of her lawyer friend, eventually gaining support from other female miners and leading to compensation for the victims and the implementation of a sexual harassment policy. North Country is a 2005 American English-language Drama movie starring Charlize Theron, Frances Mcdormand, Sean Bean, Richard Jenkins, Jeremy Renner, Michelle Monaghan and Steven Stricklin. The movie is inspired from Class Action by Clara Bingham and Laura Leedy Gansler. Participant Productions in association with Industry Entertainment and Nick Wechsler Productions. were the production houses involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Nick Wechsler. North Country is written by Michael Seitzman, Clara Bingham and Laura Leedy and it is directed by Niki Caro. Warner Bros. acquired the distribution rights for the motion picture. North Country was released on 2nd February 2006 and takes a screen time of 126 minutes. North Country was made on a budget of $35 million and at the box office it grossed only $25 million. Cinematography was done by Chris Menges and editing by David Coulson. The music was composed by Gustavo Santaolalla.
