Nellu

A movie about the traditional lifestyle and struggles of the Adiyar tribe in the Wayanad Hills of Kerala, told through the perspective of an outsider. Nellu is a 1974 Indian Malayalam-language Drama Romance motion picture featuring Prem Nazir, Mohan, Jayabharathi Nair, Kaviyoor Ponnamma, Kanakadurga, Thikkurisi Sukumaran Nair and Innocent Vareed Thekkethala. The movie is based on Nellu by P. Valsala. Jammu Films International was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) N. P. Ali. Nellu is written by Ramu Kariat, K.g. George, S.l. Puram Sadanandan and P. Valsala and it is directed by Ramu Kariat. Jammu Pictures Circuit Release acquired the distribution rights for the film. Nellu was released on 1st January 1974. The screenplay for the movie was written by Ramu Kariat and K. G. George. Cinematography was done by Balu Mahendra and editing by Hrishikesh Mukherjee and Appu. The music was composed by Salil Choudhury along with Salil Chowdhury. At the 1975 South Filmfare Awards It won an award for Best Film.
