A flight attendant, Neerja Bhanot, becomes a hero when she saves the lives of many passengers during a terrorist hijacking of Pan Am 73. Neerja is a 2016 Hindi-language Biography Drama film starring Sonam Kapoor, Shabana Azmi, Yogendra Tikku, Abrar Zahoor, Jim Sarbh, Ali Baldiwala and Vasudev Singh Rajpurohit. Neerja was Produced by Shanti Sivaram Maini. Neerja is written by Saiwyn Qadras and Sanyukta Shaikh Chawla and it is directed by Ram Madhvani. Neerja was released on 18th February 2016. The Film was successful at box office. Neerja was made on a budget of ₹28 crore and it was a super hit at box office gross of ₹71 crore. At the 2017 Filmfare Awards It won 2 awards including: Best Actress (Sonam Kapoor) and Best Film. At the 2017 Filmfare Awards It also won an award for Best Supporting Actress (Shabana Azmi). At the 2017 IIFA Awards It also won 3 awards including: Best Performance by an Actor in a Negative Role (Jim Sarbh), Best Actress in a Supporting Role (Shabana Azmi) and Best Film.
