The film tells the tale of a former criminal named Selvam who tries to start a new life, but his past catches up with him and he must fight for redemption. Avni Cinemax was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Sundar C, Khushbu and Sundar C. Nagaram is written by Sundar C, Sundar C. and T. Senthilkumaran and it is directed by Sundar C and Sundar C. Avni Cinemax acquired the distribution rights for the motion picture. Nagaram was released on 19th November 2010 and takes a screen time of 150 minutes. Cinematography was done by Chelladurai and editing by Praveen K. L. and N. B. Srikanth. The music was composed by Thaman.

The story of the film is based on four parallel stories and how everyone including Sundeep Kishan, a reckless youth, and Regina Cassandra get engrossed in a kidnap drama involving a deadly goons son.
