A desperate emperor of India prays for a son, but when his son falls in love with a dancer, their relationship is discovered and the dancer is entombed alive, only to be secretly rescued later. Mughal-E-Azam is a 1960 Indian Hindi-language Drama Romance film starring Prithviraj Kapoor, Dilip Kumar, Madhubala, Durga Khote, Nigar Sultana, Ajit and Jillo. The movie is based on An rkal by Imtiaz Ali Taj. Sterling Investment Corporation was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) K. Asif. Mughal-E-Azam is written by K. Asif, Aman, Kamal Amrohi, Ehsan Rizvi and Wajahat Mirza and it is directed by K. Asif. Mughal-E-Azam was released on 5th August 1960 and takes a screen time of 197 minutes. The Film was successful at box office. Mughal-E-Azam was made on a budget of ₹1 crore and it was a super hit at box office gross of ₹11 crore. Cinematography was done by R. D. Mathur and editing by Dharamvir. The music was composed by Naushad. At the 1961 National Film Awards It won an award for Best Feature Film in Hindi.
