In the midst of the Bougainville Civil War, Mr. Watts, the only white man remaining, reopens the local school and reads Great Expectations to Matilda, who finds comfort in the story, but tragedy strikes when the army mistakenly believes Pip to be a rebel leader, leading to the destruction of the community and the sacrifice of Mr. Watts, causing Matilda to flee to Australia, inherit Mr. Watts belongings, reconcile with her imaginary Pip, and eventually return to the island as a teacher with her father. Mr. Pip is a 2013 Indian English-language Drama War motion picture featuring Hugh Laurie, Healesville Joel, Eka Darville, Kerry Fox, Xzannjah Matsi, Florence Korokoro and Bill Edmonds. The movie is inspired from Mister Pip by Lloyd Jones. Olympus Pictures in association with New Zealand Film Commission, Daydream Productions, NZ On Air and Eyeworks Pictures. were the production houses involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Andrew Adamson, Robin Scholes, Leslie Urdang and Dean Vanech. Mr. Pip is written by Andrew Adamson and Lloyd Jones and it is directed by Andrew Adamson. Paramount Pictures acquired the distribution rights for the movie. Mr. Pip was released on 26th March 2015 and takes a screen time of 115 minutes. The motion picture made a box office gross of $0 million. Cinematography was done by John Toon and editing by Sim Evan-Jones. The music was composed by Tim Finn along with Harry Gregson-williams.
