Mother India tells the story of Radha, a woman who experiences great hardship and tragedy as she tries to raise her family and overcome the daunting challenges of poverty and debt in her rural village. Mother India is a 1957 Indian Hindi-language Drama Musical movie featuring Sunil Dutt, Rajendra Kumar, Raaj Kumar, Nargis Dutt, Rajendra Kumar Tuli, Raaj Kumar Pandit and Jillo. The movie is inspired from Aurat by Mehboob Khan. Mehboob Productions was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Mehboob Khan. Mother India is written by Mehboob Khan, Wajahat Mirza and S. Ali Raza and it is directed by Mehboob Khan. Mehboob Productions acquired the distribution rights for the film. Mother India was released on 25th October 1957 and takes a screen time of 172 minutes. The motion picture made a box office gross of ₹8 crore. Cinematography was done by Faredoon A. Irani and editing by Shamsudin Kadri. The music was composed by Naushad. At the 1958 National Film Awards It won an award for All India Certificate of Merit (Feature Film). At the 1958 National Film Awards It also won an award for Second Best Feature Film in Hindi.
