Masters of the Universe is a 1987 English-language Action Adventure film written by David Odell, Stephen Tolkin and Gary Goddard. The movie is directed by Gary Goddard and produced by Yoram Globus, Menahem Golan and Edward R. Pressman under the banner of Golan-Globus. It is based on the Mattel toyline of the same name and brings the story of two teenagers who meet the mighty warrior He-Man, who arrived on Earth from planet Eternia and now goes on a mission to save the universe from the villainous Skeletor, his nemesis. Masters of the universe features Dolph Lundgren, Frank Langella, Courteney Cox, James Tolkan, Christina Pickles, Meg Foster and Nicholas Grabowsky. The motion picture is based on Masters of the Universe by Mattel. The music was composed by Bill Conti. Cinematography was done by Hanania Baer and editing by Anne V. Coates. The motion picture has a running time of 106 minutes. Masters of the Universe was made on a budget of $22 million and at the box office it grossed only $17 million. Distribution rights for the motion picture were acquired by Cannon Films.
