Two student groups compete for the affection of a new student who is in a relationship with a meek student, but when the new student is found dead and the meek student is suspected and later found dead, a new professor and ACP take over the investigation, leading to the arrest of the group leader and revelation of the true murderer. Masterpiece is a 2017 Indian Malayalam-language Thriller Action motion picture starring Mammootty, Unni Mukundan, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Maqbool Salmaan, John Kaippallil, Manju Satheesh and V.a. Thajudeen. Royal Cinemas was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) C. H. Muhammed. Masterpiece is written by Teja Asgk and Udaykrishna and it is directed by Ajaiy Vasudevan and Ajai Vasudev. U. K. Studios acquired the distribution rights for the movie. Masterpiece was released on 21st December 2017 and takes a screen time of 160 minutes. Masterpiece was made on a budget of ₹15 crore. Cinematography was done by Vinod Illampally and editing by Johnkutty. The music was composed by Deepak Dev.
