Mappilai

Arumugam rescues a bride from a forced marriage, falls in love with her friend Geetha, but faces opposition from Geethas mother, Rajarajeswari, who falsely accuses Arumugams sister and vows to separate them based on material wealth. Mappilai is a 1989 Indian Tamil-language Comedy Action motion picture featuring Rajinikanth, Amala Akkineni, S.s. Chandran, Chiranjeevi, Dileep Pillai, Jaishankar and Vinuchakravarthy. The movie is based on Attaku Yamudu Ammayiki Mogudu. Geetha Arts was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Allu Aravind and Chiranjeevi. Mappilai is written by Panchu Arunachalam and directed by Rajasekhar Ramanathan. Pyramid Movies acquired the distribution rights for the motion picture. Mappilai was released on 14th February 1989. Mappilai was made on a budget of ₹50 crore. The screenplay for the movie was written by Panchu Arunachalam. Cinematography was done by J. V. Suresh and editing by M. Vellaisamy. The music was composed by National Award winner Ilaiyaraaja.
