The movie is based on The Black Cat by Edgar Allan Poe. Maniac was Produced by Dwain Esper, Louis Sonney and Hildagarde Stadie. Maniac is written by Hildagarde Stadie and directed by Dwain Esper. Roadshow Attractions acquired the distribution rights for the film.
