Open Road Films acquired the distribution rights for the motion picture. Mangal Pandey was released on 14th January 1983 and takes a screen time of 138 mins. The screenplay for the movie was written by Ravi Kapoor. Cinematography was done by V. Durga Prasad and editing by Govind Dalwadi. The music was composed by National Award winner Anu Malik.
