In a tale of betrayal and family secrets, Prince Jai becomes entangled in a plot to overthrow the Emperor, leading to the discovery of long-lost relatives and a tragic end. Man cheng jin dai huang jin jia is a 2006 Chinese Mandarin-language Documentary movie starring Chow Yun-fat, Gong Li, Jay Chou, Qin Junjie, Yun-fat Chow, Beau Weaver and Yimou Zhang. The movie is inspired from Thunderstorm by Cao Yu and Shakespeare s King Lear. Edko Film was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) William Kong, Zhang Weiping and Zhang Yimou. The movie is written and directed by Zhang Yimou. Sony Pictures Classics acquired the distribution rights for the film. Man cheng jin dai huang jin jia was released on 21st December 2006 and takes a screen time of 114 minutes. The Film was successful at box office. Man cheng jin dai huang jin jia was made on a budget of $45 million and it was a hit at box office gross of $78 million. Cinematography was done by Zhao Xiaoding. The music was composed by Shigeru Umebayashi.
