Mahal

A man falls in love with the ghost of his predecessors lover in an abandoned palace and tries to forget her by moving away with his new wife, but ultimately dies. Mahal is a 1949 Indian Hindi-language Drama Horror movie featuring Ashok Kumar, Madhubala, Ashok Kumar Ganguly, M. Kumar, Vijayalaxmi, Kanu Roy and Raja Salim. Bombay Talkies was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Ashok Kumar Ganguly, Ashok Kumar and Savak Vacha. The motion picture is written and directed by Kamal Amrohi. Bombay Talkies acquired the distribution rights for the movie. Mahal was released on 1st January 1949 and takes a screen time of 165 min. Mahal was made on a budget of ₹30 lakh and at the box office it grossed only ₹16 lakh. The screenplay for the movie was written by Kamal Amrohi. Cinematography was done by Josef Wirsching and editing by Bimal Roy, M. Shanker and R. M. Tipnis. The music was composed by Khemchand Prakash.
