The story of T.E. Lawrence, the English officer who successfully united and led the diverse, often warring, Arab tribes during World War I in order to fight the Turks. Lawrence of Arabia is a 1962 English-language Adventure Biography movie starring Alec Guinness, Anthony Quinn, Jack Hawkins, Jos Ferrer, Anthony Quayle, Claude Rains and Charles Gray. The movie is inspired from Seven Pillars of Wisdom by T. E. Lawrence. Horizon Pictures was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Sam Spiegel. Lawrence of Arabia is written by T.e. Lawrence, Robert Bolt and Michael Wilson and it is directed by David Lean. Columbia Pictures acquired the distribution rights for the motion picture. Lawrence of Arabia was released on 11th December 1962 and takes a screen time of 227 minutes. and it received positive reviews from critics when it was released and became successful at box office. Lawrence of Arabia was made on a budget of $15 million and it was a super hit at box office gross of $45 million. The screenplay for the movie was written by Robert Bolt and Michael Wilson. Cinematography was done by F.A. Young and editing by Anne V. Coates. The music was composed by Academy Award Oscar winner Maurice Jarre. At the 1963 Oscar Awards It won 7 awards including: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Cinematography, Color, Best Art Direction-Set Decoration, Color, Best Sound, Best Film Editing and Best Music, Score - Substantially Original.
