The film tells the story of Lava and Kusa, the sons of Sita and Rama, including significant events from the Ramayana such as Ramas coronation, the exile of Sita, and the conflict between Rama and his sons, ultimately ending with the coronation of Lava and Kusa and Ramas departure from the world. Lava Kusa is a 1963 Indian Telugu-language Drama Family motion picture starring N. T. Rama Rao, Anjali Devi, T. L. Kanta Rao, Taraka Rama Rao Nandamuri, Chittor V. Nagaiah, Tadepalli Lakshmi Kanta Rao and Sukumari Bhimsingh. The movie is based on Uttara Ramayana. Lalita Sivajyoti Films was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) A. Sankara Reddy. Lava Kusa is written by Samudrala Raghavacharya, Sadasivabrahmam and A. K. Velan and it is directed by Rao C.s.r., Chittajalu Pullayya and C. Pullaiah. Lava Kusa was released on 29th March 1963 and takes a screen time of 208 min. Lava Kusa was made on a budget of ₹3 crore and at the box office it grossed only ₹13 lakh. The screenplay for the movie was written by C. Pullaiah and C. S. Rao. Cinematography was done by P. L. Rai and editing by A. Sanjeevi. The music was composed by Ghantasala.
