Lajja

A woman escapes her abusive husband and builds a new life for herself with the help of a thief, eventually exposing a rapist and becoming an advocate for womens rights. Lajja is a 2001 Indian Hindi-language Crime Drama film starring Manisha Koirala, Madhuri Dixit, Mahima Chaudhry, Anil Kapoor, Ajay Devgn, Jackie Shroff and Seema Shinde. Santoshi Productions was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Bharat S Shah and Rajkumar Santoshi. Lajja is written by Ranjit Kapoor, Ashok Rawat and Rajkumar Santoshi and it is directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. Eros International acquired the distribution rights for the film. Lajja was released on 31st August 2001 and takes a screen time of 202 minutes. Lajja was made on a budget of ₹22 crore and at the box office it grossed only ₹15 crore. The screenplay for the movie was written by Ashok Rawat and Rajkumar Santoshi. Cinematography was done by Madhu Ambat and editing by V. N. Mayekar. The music was composed by National Award winner Anu Malik along with Ilaiyaraaja.
