The movie is inspired from Sufi s Laila-Majnu. Bharani Pictures was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) P. S. Ramakrishna Rao and Bhanumathi. Laila Majnu is written by Samudrala Sr and directed by P. S. Ramakrishna Rao. Laila Majnu was released on 1st October 1949 and takes a screen time of 169 minutes.
