Sir Richards Mental Sanatorium, run by Doctor Jogichand Khurana, along with doctors Sunil and Tanvi Khurana, sees patient no. 36 being treated by Tanvi, who grows bitter when her efforts go unnoticed, and when Anand Rai Singhania, initially showing no signs of insanity, becomes violent, he is admitted; as Tanvi helps Anand overcome his trauma and they fall in love, Khurana disapproves, leading to Anands rebellion, lobotomy by Khurana, and euthanasia by Sunil, leaving Tanvi insane and admitted as patient no. 36, making Khurana feel guilty for losing his daughter.
