In the Sudan, in 1884-85, Egyptian forces led by a British general defend Khartoum against an invading Muslim army led by a religious fanatic, the Mahdi. Khartoum is a 1966 English-language Action Adventure motion picture featuring Charlton Heston, Laurence Olivier, Richard Johnson, Ralph Richardson, Alexander Knox, Johnny Sekka and Harold Sanderson. Khartoum was Produced by Julian Blaustein. Khartoum is written by Robert Ardrey and directed by Basil Dearden and Eliot Elisofon. United Artists acquired the distribution rights for the motion picture. Khartoum was released on 15th June 1966 and takes a screen time of 134-128 minutes. and it received positive reviews from critics when it was released. Khartoum was made on a budget of $6 million and at the box office it grossed only $3 million. Cinematography was done by Edward Scaife and editing by Fergus McDonell. The music was composed by Frank Cordell.
